Well done to Alex and Garth Macey!
Following on from the splendid efforts of Graham Bevan and Alisdair Kennedy over the past three years, brothers Alex and Gareth Macey took part in the Cambridgeshire Historic Churches Trust Ride and Stride Day on September 9th. They set off from Great Paxton and rode 40 miles on a very hot day visiting churches in St Neots and surrounding villages.
They are still collecting in sponsor monies and we will announce how much they have raised in the next edition of Quartet. Thank you to everyone who supported them.
Here is a picture of Alex and Gareth setting off in Church Lane with their mother Rosemary.
You can read more about the work of the CHCT and the Cycle ride on:
The Scarecrow Festival Week in September.
How lovely to see the village so busy with visitors and locals enjoying the scarecrow festival throughout the village.
We were very grateful to be able to serve teas on Saturday September 16th in church and raise £147.00 for church funds.
Once again, Rev Alfred Cane ( Vicar from 1892 – 1919 ) was recreated as a scarecrow.
He was even more authentic this year and you can see his picture on the back page.
Thanks to Paul who lovingly crafted him from straw.
He will stay in church for a few weeks.
Annette was also pleased to judge the children’s fancy dress competition with Rob the St Neots Mayor and you can see the winners also on the back page.
Well done to all the organisers who worked so hard to make the event happen in 2023.
